Participation strategies
This Children and Young People's Participation Strategy has been produced by the participation team of the Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership. The aims of the strategy are:
- to establish a vision for participation for children and young people in Nottinghamshire
- to establish the reasons for and benefits of effective participation
- to provide a practical approach for practitioners working with children and young people to ensure consistent and effective participation
- to set out an action plan for the development of participation across Nottinghamshire.
Across the county, all children and young people will have the opportunity to participate in decisions which affect their lives. They will have access to services which they need and the opportunity to shape how these services are planned and delivered.
It is children and young people’s right to be involved in the decisions that affect them. If they are involved in participation, our services will be more effective, better targeted and more cost effective.
If we are to improve the general standard and participation in our democratic processes, children and young people must be involved in decision making at the earliest opportunity.
