Environmentally friendly bus travel arrives in Rushcliffe
Rushcliffe residents can now enjoy greener, cleaner bus journeys following the launch (Tuesday 3 May) of Nottinghamshire County Council’s new Nottsbus ECOnnect 33 service, which runs between Sutton Cum Granby/Radcliffe and Nottingham. The Council has added two more zero emission buses to its existing fleet of eco buses to serve the route, which replaces the previous 33 bus service run by CT4N.
The new Nottsbus ECOnnect 33 will continue to link passengers from the villages south of Bingham with Cotgrave, Tollerton, Gamston (Morrisons), West Bridgford and Nottingham. The new service has also been extended to Radcliffe on Trent to provide convenient connections to other bus and train services.
Funding for the new service has been provided by Nottinghamshire County Council’s Local Bus Support budget and developer contributions from the Holly Gate housing development in Cotgrave. Nottsbus ECOnnect 33 will be operated by Nottinghamshire County Council’s Fleet Transport Service, as part of its wider Nottsbus network.
Passengers using the new service will be able to travel on one of two new electric vehicles, which were bought by Nottinghamshire County Council using funding from the Government’s ‘Ultra-Low Emission Bus Scheme’. Carrying up to 32 passengers each, both buses are fully electric and have a range of around 150 miles on a single charge.

- reduced C02 emissions and helps address climate change
- reduced running costs due to cheaper costs of electricity compared to diesel
- smooth and quiet journeys - no engine noise so passengers can enjoy a better journey experience
- larger seating capacity - allowing more users to access the service
Councillor Neil Clarke MBE, Chairman of the Transport and Environment Committee, said: “We are delighted to add two more new electric buses to our fleet. As a Council we are committed to improving air quality, addressing climate change, exploring sustainable transport opportunities and ensuring we continue to provide a much-needed bus service for the local residents. These new eco buses produce zero exhaust emissions, meaning that residents and passengers will benefit from cleaner air along the new Nottsbus ECOnnnect 33 route. We are looking forward to adding further eco buses to our fleet in the future.”
