St George’s Day celebrations are among the activities which Nottinghamshire County Council Chairman Councillor John Handley will attend this week.

On Friday evening he will attend the Mayor of Newark’s St George’s Day dinner at Newark Town Hall from 7pm.

On Saturday afternoon he will be present at an annual St George’s Day Service, Parade and Renewal of Promises at Southwell Minster. The event is for the Central Notts Scout District and Daybrook, Southwell and Westdale Guide Divisions. The young people assemble in Burgage Green in Southwell town centre at 2.15pm, and parade to the Minster where everyone within the scouts and guides have to renew promises as part of the service. The service starts at 3pm.

That evening, our Chairman will be at a charity choir concert being organised by Newark and Sherwood District Council at Rainworth Village Hall, at 7pm.

And on Sunday he will be at Nottingham Forest Football Ground as Rushcliffe District Scouts hold a St George’s Day Service and Parade, which is starting at 2.30pm.
