Nottinghamshire County Council - Proud of our past, ambitious for our future

Trading Standards food hygiene

Details of the latest product withdrawals and recalls, including Food Alerts for Action, can be found on the Food Standards Agency website at: www.food.gov.uk/enforcement/alerts/

There is dual responsibility for the enforcement of food legislation within parts of England with two tiers of local government. In Nottinghamshire, Trading Standards are responsible for permitted ingredients, food labelling and quality, while Environmental Health sections of district councils ensure that food businesses prepare and sell food hygienically. The authorities work together to ensure that food premises comply with the law. You can contact your district council for more information.

New Food Labelling Regulations: Food Information Regulation 2013

A new EU Regulation on food labelling will amend current food labelling laws in the United Kingdom. EU Regulation 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers, otherwise known as the Food Information Regulation 2013, will replace the Food Labelling Regulations 1996. Food business operators can find guidance on the new regulation by visiting our food labelling page.
