What we do
Trading standards officers enforce a wide range of legislation to make Nottinghamshire a better trading environment. We use information received to focus our attention on the Trading Standards issues causing the most problems to our communities. We support legitimate businesses to help them trade well and act quickly to tackle issues compromising consumer safety. Our officers work with other agencies to target enforcement action against rogue traders and to protect our most vulnerable residents. We play an important role in managing the health and welfare of the county's livestock.
For businesses
Do you need specialist business advice and help interpreting and complying
with trading standards legislation? If so, we can help. We enforce over 60 acts of Parliament and over 1000
UK and European Regulations covering many areas of business.

business advice section for more information.
For the community
Trading standards officers undertake regular inspections,
investigations, test purchases, surveys, verifications and sampling to
ensure traders' compliance with trading standards legislation. Where
necessary, serious contraventions are reported, which can result in
legal action being taken by the service against the trader/individual.
We work in partnership with the Citizens Advice Consumer Service who provide free, confidential and
impartial advice on consumer issues. They can help if advice is needed about
resolving an issue or a dispute with a retailer or trader. They can also provide
advice before you purchase goods or pay for services.
