Do you have enough trained minibus drivers for your school?

Did you know that any drivers who passed their driving test after January 1997 will not have the entitlement to drive minibuses in paid employment (including teachers and day care staff) and will therefore need a full PSV D1 Professional Licence?

Fear not - we have a PSV Driver Trainer to support your drivers through the theoretical and practical training and attain the appropriate licence.

The driver must then undergo 35 hours of training across 5 years to attain the DVLA Driver Qualification Card (DQC) and we can also help to provide this with policy information and support.

We also monitor the Council’s 'Permit to Drive Scheme' and assess drivers who do have the minibus entitlement within their driving licence (passed before January 1997) in the Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme (MIDAS).

Individual packages can be arranged and quoted.

Costs:

Audit staff time is charged at a standard daily rate

Package Duration  Cost
PSV Driver Training Approx 20 hours, dependent on candidate £1,100
MIDAS – without tail lift 7 hours – theory, practical training and assessment £100
MIDAS – with tail lift 10 hours – theory, practical training and assessment £160

Our pledge:

Transport and Travel Services will assess driver(s) level of training requirement and support them to attain all the relevant theory and practical passes to enable issue of the professional PSV D1 licence. This includes all books and CD Rom support.
