Headteacher Appointment Service

Governor Services and the Education Improvement Service provide a professional, cost effective headteacher recruitment service to governing bodies. Together we have considerable experience in headteacher recruitment and can offer expert advice throughout the process. For maintained schools it is a legal entitlement for the Corporate Director or his representative to attend all proceedings relating to the selection of any headteacher. Any advice offered by the local authority at these proceedings must be considered by the governing body when reaching a decision.

What we offer:

Initial Contact - telephone advice to the chair of governors regarding the governing body's role in appointing a headteacher
Start-Up Meeting of Full Governing Body - arrange meeting, advice about first stages of recruitment process, including advertising, from experienced Local Authority officer
Selection Panel Meeting(s) - arranging and minuting the meetings and support and advice regarding the attendance and organisation of selection panels
Administration - arranging for short listed candidates to attend selection process, requesting references and preparing Selection Panel materials
Selection Process - organising Local Authority officer attendance and the identification, qualification and right to work in the UK checks (legal requirement)
Follow Up - feedback on performance of candidates and the decision making process thereafter, including contacting candidates to offer appointment, attendance and feedback to candidates plus clerking of the Ratification Meeting
Post-selection - arranging CRB checks and isuing contract, informing all Local Authority Departments of the outcome, distributing minutes to governors of all selection meetings
