Achievement and Equality Team

Nottinghamshire serves an increasingly diverse community, which includes those who are New to English and more advanced bilingual learners; Gypsy, Roma, Travellers, and significant numbers of children from Black and Mixed backgrounds.

We are a specialist team who work county-wide to support schools to effectively meet the needs of these pupils and their families.

In addition, we have considerable expertise in supporting both multi-ethnic and mainly white schools to fulfil their statutory duties under the Equality Act 2010 and provide support, advice and guidance around policy development.

What we offer:

  • Initial needs assessments and advice visits.
  • Direct pupil support (individual and group and whole class).
  • Training and development (for governors, Senior Leaders, Teaching staff and all Support staff).
  • Home-school liaison, including some translation and interpretation.
  • Curriculum development and resourcing.
  • Engagement of pupils, parents/carers, and wider community e.g. pupil voice.
  • Best practice development in relation to equality issues.
