School meals and milk
Milk is free for all pupils up to the age of five and at a reduced rate for all 5-7 year olds in nursery and infant schools. It is also subsidised for all pupils in special schools.
If you receive a qualifying benefit you can get free meals and milk for your child. Once in full-time education they will get either a free two-course meal or items of an equivalent value if there is a cash cafeteria service at lunchtime.
For information on how to apply for free school meals and milk please visit the free school meals page.
School clothing
Unfortunately, parents and carers can no longer claim any money towards the cost of school clothing and footwear for children transferring from primary to secondary education at the age of 11, unless the customer feels that there are exceptional circumstances.
Examples of situations that may be classed as exceptional are emergency home situations such as fire and flood and where a parent or carer has left the family home due to domestic violence.

Granby Trust
The County Council are the Trustees of the Granby Educational Foundation, which was established in 1955 and derives from the sale of the Old Granby School and School House. This produces a small amount of income which may be distributed to children in financial need, who live in Granby, for the benefit of their education. Applications may be made at any time of the year.
The terms of the Trust are fairly broad, and anyone who wishes to apply should contact Gill Thackrey.
