Reception places

Starting school for the first time (reception) – September 2014.

Key dates for parents/guardians applying to school places for children entering Reception. (Children who are 5 years old between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015)

  • Closing date for receipt of applications and any supplementary or supporting information including any special circumstances
Monday 10 February 2014
  • Last date for exceptional late applications and changes to preference to be received in order to be considered as on time, refer to page 22
National Offer Day: Wed 16 April 2014
  • Emails sent to online applicants with the outcome of their application
  • Letters sent to parents by second class post showing the outcome of their application
  • Unsuccessful on-time applications added to waiting lists
  • Appeals can be lodged
Wednesday 30 April 2014
  • Deadline for responses.
From Thursday 1 May 2014
  • Online responses processed
  • Processing of late applications and changes to preferences starts
  • Any available places begin to be offered from the waiting lists in line with the relevant admission over subscription criteria
June/July 2014
  • Independent appeals heard
Monday 1 September 2014
  • Applications received from this date will be processed in line with in-year arrangements, page 23
Wednesday 31 December 2014
  • Waiting lists close for community and voluntary controlled schools. Some own admission authority schools may continue to hold waiting lists after this date.

Transferring from an infant school (year 2) to junior/primary education (year 3) – September 2014.

  • Emails sent to online applicants with the outcome of their application
  • Letters sent to parents by second class post showing the outcome of their application
  • Unsuccessful on-time applications added to waiting lists for schools with an intake at year 3
  • Voluntary controlled and community schools which do not have a normal intake at year 3 do not hold waiting lists
  • Appeals can be lodged
