Nottinghamshire County Council - Proud of our past, ambitious for our future
Sherwood Banner

Welcome to Sherwood Forest Education Centre. As part of Nottinghamshire County Council's Outdoor and Environmental Education Service, the centre is a well regarded educational facility set in the history-laden north Nottinghamshire countryside.

We work closely with schools and groups from Nottinghamshire and further a field to provide individually tailored days for young people and adults to experience quality outdoor learning experiences. Programmes aim to enrich the curriculum and help learners reach their potential through positive engagement with the education process, increasing confidence, group awareness, healthy activity and fun. The centre is also available for self led groups throughout the year.

Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve is an internationally recognised location that provides an ideal place for school visits. Pupils will be able to immerse themselves in the Legend of Robin Hood and discover the woodland habitat in fun and exciting ways.

There are many fun activities at Sherwood including:

  • "Very pleasant and helpful, may I add that the leader we had for Little John made it one of the best school trips ever. He was informative, amusing and had a natural rapport with the children. They all loved him! The activities were good and we enjoyed the day thoroughly" - Sycamore Hall School
  • "Ralph and Keith did an excellent job enthusing all children in fun and engaging activities. No concerns, very safe venue with obvious care and consideration to detail" - Forest Fields Primary
