Nottinghamshire County Council provides a wide range of centres and resources to support outdoor and environmental education for young people across Nottinghamshire and has been offering outdoor education advice, opportunities, residential/day centres and training to schools and other organisations for many years. It has a long established national reputation in broadening the educational horizons of young people and enriching the curriculum through outdoor learning.
The provision includes two residential outdoor and environmental centres in the Peak District, two day environmental education centres (Perlethorpe and Brackenhurst), adventure bases at Sutton in Ashfield (The Mill Adventure Base) and Holme Pierrepont (Lakeside). They offer unique, accessible and affordable opportunities, covering the broad spectrum of outdoor adventures and environmental education. All of the centres are staffed by qualified and experienced specialists and are operated to rigorous health and safety standards.
