Volunteering for Nottinghamshire Archives
Nottinghamshire Archives recruits volunteers on a number of projects both at the Archives and at home. These include:
- retro-conversion of catalogues for our online catalogue NAWCAT
- transcriptions of archives
- cleaning and numbering of various records
- assisting at outreach events
Volunteers add value to our work by supporting the archives and helping us to achieve our many aims and objectives. For volunteers the opportunities can give you the chance to meet new people, work as a team, gain some new skills and help preserve our heritage.
Please contact us for further information.
Work experience
School pupils and university students (including those undertaking courses before an archives postgraduate course) are welcome to approach us to discuss the possibilities of undertaking work experience at Nottinghamshire Archives. Demand is considerable so it is advisable to contact us well in advance.
The work experience we provide is generally over a one week period.
The week begins with an introduction to the service and tour of the building, then continues with a combination of project work and professional modules on a range of themes, including accessions and cataloguing, conservation work, records management, web site work and outreach.
For both work experience and voluntary work, please e-mail: archives@nottscc.gov.uk.
Other opportunities
There are a wide range of volunteering opportunities in Nottinghamshire.
