Become a Friend Against Scams

14 February 2017

Statistics show that every 15 seconds, someone reports a fraud in the UK.

Many of these people are vulnerable because they are older or disabled. Our Trading Standards officers have been out visiting the homes of older people and people with dementia in Nottinghamshire to try and prevent them becoming scam victims.

The Council is investing an extra £76,786 to help support local victims of mass marketing scams over the next twelve months. The money is paying for two additional Trading Standards officers dedicated to working with vulnerable residents who have been identified as potential victims of a scam.

You can do your bit by signing up to Friends Against Scams This includes free online learning and tips for protecting service users, family, neighbours and friends.

To report concerns about scam contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 040506.
