Section 188 Notices issued in 2010
In 2010, a section 188 Notice was published for 1,400 employees working within the Council. A Section 188 Notice including all Corporate and Service Directors, Heads of Service and Service Manager level posts across the County Council was also issued.
Section 188 Notice for 1,400 employees
This Notice was issued as a result of the publication of the service review proposals, the Council-wide service reviews and the need for the Council to make £69 million of savings in 2011/12.
The Notice was published in two parts.
Part one
Part one is by department and contains posts included in the service review information which was considered by Members at the Full Council meeting on October 21 2010.

The posts on the first part of the Section 188 Notice relate to proposals where there is a proposed staffing reduction in 2011/12.

Part two
Part two of the Notice contains information on three of the cross-cutting reviews and identifies posts that carry out a similar role across the organisation:
-
Business support
-
Communications
-
Learning and Development, Workforce Planning and Developement
Please note: The final totals on each list need to be viewed in the context of both departmental and cross cutting reviews. We have tried to ensure consistency in how the potential impact on posts has been presented across the County Council. However, given the complexity of the exercise, there is the potential for posts from different service areas to be included in different parts of the Notice or to have been included in previous notices. There is also the potential for duplication of posts. Therefore, the overall figures on the separate lists may not balance exactly.
Business support
This section lists posts involved in the review and rationalisation of all business support and administrative posts across the County Council. The Section 188 Notice identifies a potential 30% reduction overall. However, the detailed future operating model is still being developed and will be the subject of future consultation with affected staff, managers and the recognised trade unions.
