Section 188 Notice issued in 2014

Section 188 Notice issued 4 November 2014

The Council issued a Section 188 Notice on 4 November 2014 listing 491.79 posts potentially at risk as part of the 2015/16 and 2016/17 budget savings. Of the total posts at risk, 78.64 FTE are already vacant.

Posts affected in each department include:

  • 273.49 in Adult Social Care, Health and Public Protection
  • 37.8 in Children, Families and Cultural Services
  • 71.5 in Environment and Resources
  • 9 in Policy, Planning and Corporate Services.
  • 100 in Business Support across Adult Social Care, Health and Public Protection and Children, Families and Cultural Services

The Notice reflects the budget proposals put forward for 2015/16 and 2016/17. Overall, the County Council is facing £77 million budget shortfall caused by reductions in Government funding, rising demand for services and changes in the law such as the Care Act 2014.

The publication of the Notice marks the start of a minimum 45-day consultation period with employees and the trade unions on the proposals, and in some areas, consultation will be continue beyond the end of that period.
