Access to GPs: Walk-in centres
With new NHS walk-in centres intended to give fast access to health advice and treatment for patients on a 'drop-in' basis, this review helped clarify what access to GPs the walk-in centres provide - and who is able to access them.
With a national requirement that all areas should have a walk-in health care facility, the review also considered where a new walk-in centre should be located in Nottinghamshire to achieve the greatest health gain for most patients.

Members gave further consideration to the public consultation on where a new walk-in centre - with access to GPs - should be sited in the county. The public were consulted on whether the new centre should be in Newark, Mansfield and Ashfield, or Hucknall, but members were told that criteria, such as good transport links, will eventually decide the location.
13 May 2008
The first meeting of the select committee agreed the terms of reference for the review and considered the proposals for a new walk-in centre.
