Flooding in 2000

A review began in January 2008 to examine the severe effects of the 2007 summer floods and to find out if any of the devastation could have been prevented.

Unprecedented property damage was caused by the floods and the select committee considered whether better maintenance of drains and watercourses would help to protect properties in the future.

28 April 2008

31 March 2008

The select committee heard from the Environment Agency and Severn Trent on measures that are being taken to avoid the worst impact of flooding in the future - such as the 'Left Bank' scheme to protect 16,000 properties from Sawley to Colwick. 25 February 2008

The select committee listened to presentations on the multi-agency response to flooding (such as the Notts Fire & Rescue, local authorities and the environment agency), highway drainage and Newark & Sherwood's response to last year's floods.
