Extra investment

An extra £600,000 will be spent on improving drains to reduce the risk of flooding.

An extra £100,000 will be spent on the upkeep of the Sutton, Mansfield and Newark bus stations.

Service changes

Bus services will continue to be supported – only the Sherwood Forester leisure service will be withdrawn because it is not financially viable.

£50,000 will be saved by using smaller 6mm size salt crystals to treat the county’s roads when ice is expected to form. This salt can be used at lower concentrations, with cost and environmental benefits, and will be stored under cover at a new salt store which has been built at a central location to maximise efficiency. There will be no change to the county's gritting routes or frequency of treatment.

£100,000 will be saved by streamlining the maintenance and monitoring of traffic signals and streetlights – achieved without affecting road safety.

Changes to the concessionary fares scheme: half fare travel will no longer be available before 9.30am or after 11pm on buses (Monday to Friday). Half fare rail travel will be withdrawn.

Funding for the community car and minibus schemes will be withdrawn.

Funding for the community transport scheme, which had been earmarked for a £150,000 budget cut, will not be altered, to allow a full review of the scheme to be carried out to assess if any changes should be made to the service.
