The Equality Scheme and Corporate Equality Plan
The Race Relations Amendment Act 2000, Disability Discrimination Amendment Act 2005 and the Equality Act 2006 have impacted on all public bodies including local authorities.
One of the most important requirements is to publish the Equality Scheme [PDF 436KB] | Equality Scheme [WORD 568KB] outlining how we will eliminate discrimination and promote good equality practice in the county.
Since 2000, we have also been working to the national Improvement & Development Agency (I&DeA) Equality Standard to eliminate all discrimination, including gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, race, religion and belief and social exclusion.
Find out more out the Equality Standard at website: www.idea-knowledge.gov.uk/idk
The actions from both of the above schemes to achieve the Equality Standard are outlined in our Corporate Equality Plan [PDF 440KB] | Corporate Equality Plan [WORD 777KB]
A comprehensive overview from the I&DeA of all the diversity and equality legislation relevant for local government is available at: www.idea-knowledge.gov.uk/idk
