Walk to Bestwood Country Park is now easier
Visitors to Bestwood Country Park can now get there more easily, thanks to an improved path that was officially opened on 25 January 2010.
The path from Emmanuel Church, Church View Close, has been resurfaced with attractive Breedon gravel, vegetation along the route has been cut back and drainage has been improved.
The work, which took place during December 2009, was funded by £20,000 from Nottinghamshire County Council’s Local Improvement Schemes.
Councillor Ged Clarke, who represents the Arnold North electoral division, said: “The Friends of Bestwood Country Park requested this path improvement for the benefit of residents and visitors. I would like to thank them for their support on this project and with the park, in general, all year round.”
Councillor Carol Pepper, who also represents the Arnold North electoral division, said: “The path was in need of a new surface and better drainage behind the church to prevent it getting muddy and slippy in bad weather. This improvement will benefit anyone entering the park from this part of Warren Hill and, particularly, disabled people.”

Borrow an Energy Monitor from your Local Library
Nottinghamshire County Council and the Energy Saving Trust, with the support of all district and borough councils in Nottinghamshire, have come together to introduce the Energy Monitor Loan Scheme in libraries across the county.
The scheme was successfully piloted from mid July 2009 in libraries across Rushcliffe and aims to give every resident the opportunity to loan an energy monitor from their local library.
Energy Monitors are used to keep track of how much energy you are using in your home, which can be displayed in kWh or pounds and pence. This real-time visual display of your energy use will show you how much you can save by doing very quick and simple things such as turning your appliances off standby, taking shorter showers or washing clothes at lower temperatures.
To find out more information and borrow a monitor, visit your local library or call the Energy Saving Trust on free phone 0800 512 012 or visit www.energysavingtrust.org.uk
