How decisions are made
Executive decisions can be taken in one of three ways:
- collectively by Cabinet
- by individual Cabinet Members
- by officers who have been delegated the power to make certain decisions (These
are called delegated decisions).
All
decisions are published:
Some
of the decisions which are taken by Cabinet or individuals are Executive Key Decisions.
A
key decision is one which:
- costs or saves more than £1m, or
- affects the residents of more than one electoral division.
Executive
Key Decisions can only be taken if details have been included in advance in the Forward
Plan [PDF].
The Forward Plan
is published at the beginning of each month, so that anyone has time to comment or make representations
before the decision is made.
Further information about decision making
powers and procedures is explained in the Constitution.
