- Solving your consumer problem

The three-step solution to getting your problem solved.

  1. Know what you are entitled to.  To find out, look at the information sheets for consumers or contact a consumer adviser.
  2. Put your complaint in writing to the trader.Outline the problem and what has been done so far to rectify it. Specify your requirements and give a deadline for a response from the trader.  We suggest ten days from the date of the letter. (See our sample letters to help you get started).
  3. If a response is not received, or if the response is unsatisfactory, contact a consumer adviser for further advice or make a complaint online at www.consumercomplaints.org.uk.
