Consumer Direct
Nottinghamshire County Council's consumer advice service has now linked with Consumer Direct.
Consumer Direct is a telephone and online consumer advice service, supported by the Department of Trade and Industry. It provides clear, practical, impartial advice to help you sort out problems and disagreements you may be having with suppliers of goods and services.
Information sheets covering common consumer problems are available online along with sample letters of complaint. The telephone number is 08454 040506.
You should contact Consumer Direct if:
- you want to know your legal rights as a consumer
- you would like advice prior to making a purchase of goods or services
- you want to report trading scams that you have experienced
- you would like to find out how to avoid scams or future problems
- you would like consumer related issues explained such as warranties, buying on credit, internet shopping, refunds and replacements etc
- you would like to complain about a trader.
Advice is free, with telephone calls being charged at a local rate (cost of calls from mobile phones and certain landlines may vary).
The service is available 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays, excluding Bank Holidays / Public Holidays.
