JIN - Crime and disorder data
The main aims of JiN (Jupiter in Nottinghamshire) are to assist the local Crime and Disorder Partnerships in:
- improving community safety
- preventing and detecting crime and
- reducing anti-social behaviour.
It does this by providing information on these issues via a web site. Information is by no means restricted to crime and disorder data and it is hoped that a wider selection of data sets will be included in the near future. JiN was developed to support data sharing within Nottinghamshire as part of the regional JUPITER project (Joined-Up Partnerships In The East midlands Region).
Public access to the information is via a web site to maps which display the data in a readily understandable form.
The JiN website is: www.jinpartnership.org.uk
To do this the JiN partners have created a central data hub where data is cleansed, depersonalised and stored. Aggregated data is then available on a web-based platform in map form via a GIS (geographic information system). For more detailed analysis, partners can access full cleansed data by contacting the JiN data hub.
Initial members of JiN were the Government Office for the East Midlands, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, although further partners have subsequently signed up.
