West Bridgford local area forum
What is the West Bridgford Local Area Forum?
This includes local residents, people involved in voluntary and community groups, schools and colleges, police, fire and rescue, local businesses, health providers and local councillors.
What does West Bridgford LAF do?
The Forum is striving to help plan and monitor local service delivery through its link with Ruschliffe Community Partnership and serves as a networking device for organisations to inform and consult with local people. The Forum’s current sub groups work on traffic and transport issues and on promoting arts and events.
Current work includes:
- Working with Rushcliffe Youth Assembly on developing local resources for young people including 'mapping' of youth provision in the locality to identify gaps
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the Rushcliffe Community Strategy
Working with Nottinghamshire County Council on the Local Transport Plan review to implement the new cross West Bridgford Bus Service for local residents and shoppers.
Why should I join?
You will get the chance to:
- Have your say on local issues involving schools, traffic and roads, crime and anti social behaviour, community facilities, health provision, the environment and council services
- Develop the activities and membership of groups you are interested in, perhaps setting up new working groups
- Apply for money for innovative schemes or to support community projects you are involved in
- Contribute to the achievement of local strategic targets in West Bridgford.
What kind of funding is available?
West Bridgford LAF has funding to support local groups which are providing a service or facility for the area. Bids should be for one-off projects rather than supporting an on-going need.
Examples of recent successful bids include funding:
- Security products for discounted sale through West Bridgford Neighbourhood Watch Group
- A local band’s performance night
- Children’s activities for the Christmas Lights Switch on 2004.
Can I become a member?
Yes, if you represent a local group or are an individual who supports the aims of the Forum and feels able to make a useful contribution to the activities of the Forum.
Meetings are held once every two months on weekday evenings, at County Hall
