What is SPG?

Ashfield Links Forum Information Day, December 04 A partnership of people living or working in Sutton, acting together to improve the local area and quality of life.  This includes local residents, people involved in voluntary and community groups, schools and colleges, police, fire and rescue service, local businesses, health providers and local councillors.

Can I become a member?

Yes, if you represent a local group or support the aims of the Group and feel able to make a useful contribution to its activities.  You should be interested in local issues and want to help the group deliver results, whether this be through coming up with ideas for the Ashfield Partnership Strategy, helping the group publicise its activities or simply sharing information.

We would be especially keen to see you if you work in the community, volunteer locally or represent a local business.

Why should people join?

Display stand at Ashfield Links Forum Information Day You will get to have your say on local issues by having an active involvement in monitoring and influencing service providers via the Ashfield Partnership Strategy.  You will be able to comment on how well current projects are working and suggest other ways that objectives for the area should be met. Members of SPG are seen by the Partnership as the ‘experts on the ground’ and are consulted with over issues requiring very local knowledge.  This is an accountable system, SPG being recognised as an official member of the Partnership and having a community representative on the Hub or Board.

What work will the Sutton Partnership Group be doing next?

SPG oversee the carrying out of the Annual Delivery Plans by service providers and monitor progress against targets.

What kind of funding is available?

We have a small amount of funding to support local groups that are providing a service or facility in the area.  Bids should be for one-off projects rather than supporting an ongoing need.  Current funding priorities include bids that strategically support the priorities of the Ashfield Partnership, particularly applications that tackle health inequalities and community safety issues.  We will also look to support bids which are about developing community group or strengthening the links between them.

How much time would I have to commit?

Meetings are held every 6-8 weeks at the Sutton Centre on weekday evenings for 2 hours.
