What is it?

The Arnold Business Forum (ABF) is based in Arnold, Nottinghamshire and represents the interests of local retailers, traders and businesses. Its members range from small independent family firms to national retailers and familiar household names.

The Arnold Business Forum was set up in 1999 and is part of a network of bodies working under the umbrella of the Arnold Local Area Forum to improve the lives of people in Arnold.

The ABF was created in recognition that Arnold was a town that depended heavily on its position as a shopping centre on the outskirts of Nottingham. Both the smaller local retailers and the larger national companies realised that they should work together in partnership for the benefit of all the businesses and the community as a whole.

What does it do?

The Arnold Business Forum is a partnership of local businesses working together for the benefit of their own day-to-day trading and to improve the lives of local people. It actively supports many of the activities going on locally and specifically seeks to:

  • improve the environment of the town centre
  • make the town centre a safe place to visit
  • reduce traffic congestion and improve parking for shoppers
  • Inform shoppers and visitors of local entertainment and places of interest.

What activities does it support?

The Arnold Business Forum is an active and leading member of many of the organisations and groups seeking to improve the quality of life in Arnold such as the:

  • Arnold Local Area Forum
  • Arnold in Bloom
  • Arnold Newsletter
  • Arnold publicity and marketing initiatives

Its members bring a vital retail and business perspective to the work of these important local groups.

Who is a member?

Over a third of the 141 businesses based in Arnold have already joined and become members in the short time the Arnold Business Forum has been operating.

Arnold Eagle

The Arnold Local Area Forum and Arnold Business Forum have also supported the publication of the ‘Arnold eagle’: a free local newspaper, which is distributed throughout Arnold. The ‘Eagle’ has been running for nearly a year and has been so successful that it is now self-financing through advertising revenue.

The paper provides publicity for the activities of both Forums, Gedling Borough Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and a large range of local organisations.

We also support and contribute to Arnold Newsletter which is produced once a quarter.
