Consultation

Consultation is important: as a council, we need to know that the decisions we make take into account the views of the people of Nottinghamshire. To do this we are now recruiting to our citizens' panel

Consultation - involving the public in the work of local government - has become an integral part of the policy-making process.

It’s not simply about more open-government, although that too is important, it’s about making policies more effective by listening to and taking on-board the views of the public and interested groups.

We publish our proposed, current and completed consultations so that we can inform and involve you in the key council decisions.

You can also register to be kept informed on proposed and current consultation.

National consultations

You may also be interested to see what consultations are being run elsewhere in the UK - download this list of consultations [xls] issued by the UK Government, the Scottish Government, the Welsh Assembly and the Northern Ireland Executive. The list gives information on the issuing department, the title of the consultation, the start and end dates, a link to the relevant webpage and a link to a downloadable consultation document in PDF or Microsoft Word.

Public engagement policy

We have a public engagement policy. This helps us to ensure that we keep the people of Nottinghamshire at the heart of everything we do.
