Cycling strategy

We’re committed to increasing the safety and number of cycling trips and we’re focussing our efforts on attempts to increase the amount of cycling trips, with a specific focus on journeys to work.

The new policies in our strategy are backed up by our Cycling Design Guide, which our engineers and planners use when designing new cycling facilities. In addition, we cycle audit major new cycling schemes and use a Non-Motorised Road User audit on all traffic management and highway development proposals. This ensures that the needs of different types of cyclists are met wherever possible in new schemes.
