Selston transport study
Better travel and transport in Selston, Jacksdale and Underwood
Selston, Jacksdale and Underwood have a vital role to play in providing important goods and services. We would like to help these centres thrive by ensuring that all members of the community are able to access them. At the same time we want to manage congestion, reduce road accidents and improve air quality.
As part of our Local Transport Plan we’re looking at ways to give people more travel choice. In other words we’re looking at how we can help make walking, cycling and travel by bus safer, easier and quicker to help take the pressure off our roads.
Our transport study is about finding out what your transport issues are. It might be a need for more pedestrian crossings, better access for those with disabilities or more cycle parking. Although the study is mainly focussed on Selston, Jacksdale and Underwood, we are considering suggestions for improving access to Sutton and Kirkby as well.
How can we improve travel and transport in Selston, Jacksdale and Underwood?
We will be asking residents and visitors for their views to help improve travel and transport.
For example:
- Do the pavements and walking routes to the town/village centres need improving to encourage more people to walk?
- What would encourage you to leave your car at home and walk, cycle or use the bus instead?
- Is it easy to find bus timetables and travel information?
- Are our roads and pavements safe for older people and people with a disability?
- What can we do to improve the town/village centres to encourage residents to shop locally and support local businesses?
The consultation is now closed, thank you for your interest. We are currently analysing the responses which we will use to help devise a programme of schemes to improve travel and transport in the area.
