West Bridgford improvements
This successful scheme has transformed the shopping streets of Gordon Road, Rectory Road and Davies Road. Gordon Square has been transformed with a new layout, paving, street furniture and a pedestrian crossing. These improvements will help to promote this part of town as a key shopping destination and to link it to other service areas within the town centre. High quality materials appropriate to the existing historic framework of the area have been used. This helps to maintain the heritage of West Bridgford and contributes to making the area more attractive to visitors and businesses alike. The scheme will make this key town centre area much more accessible, providing benefits to shoppers, visitors, businesses and residents alike.

Partnership
Partnership working has been at the heart of this project, which was conceived as a direct result of public and stakeholder consultation. Nottinghamshire County Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council worked productively in partnership with Thomas Bow Ltd to deliver this major environmental improvement scheme. This area now has a more attractive, safe and pedestrian friendly environment, which helps link key shopping and service areas within the town centre. Key stakeholders have been consulted at every stage of the scheme development and the original design amended in light of comments and suggestions received.
Site works commenced on the £750,000 scheme in September 2007 and were completed in early February 2008.
The patience and support of residents, shoppers, visitors and businesses of West Bridgford during the construction has been much appreciated.
