Arnold improvements - phase 2

The second phase of improvements to Front Street commenced on 19 May 2008. Hopefully you will have seen the exhibitions held over the last couple of years showing the nature and layout of the improvements.

The second phase of the scheme plans to alter the road layout allowing us to make a number of improvements:

  • Pavements will be widened where necessary
  • New high quality paving will be used to make the area a more pleasant place to shop
  • Dedicated parking bays will be built
  • New taxi rank will be created outside Iceland
  • New lighting will be provided to improve pedestrian safety at night
  • New disabled parking bays will be provided.

We intend to begin the works along Front Street from Worrall Avenue to Coppice Road starting on the west side of the road outside the old Co-op building. The work is expected to take place until autumn 2008. We will do our best to make sure that any inconvenience is kept to a minimum during construction.

The partners involved in this project are:

  • Nottinghamshire County Council
  • Gedling Borough Council
  • Nottinghamshire Police
  • Arnold Business Forum
  • Residents, shoppers and traders of Arnold.
