<p>What is the second Local Transport Plan ?<br><br>Nottinghamshire County Council is now renewing its five year plan for transport in Greater Nottingham and North Nottinghamshire. These renewed plans will cover a period of five years from 2006/7 to 2010/11. &#160;A provisional document was submitted to Government in July 2005 and the final document must be completed by March 2006.<br></p>
<p>The Local Transport Plan (LTP) provides integrated transport strategies covering all the modes of urban and rural transport combined with a detailed programme of measures to cover the plan period.</p>

<p>Aims of the the LTP<br><br>These include:</p>
<ul><li>To promote the economy of town, district and local centres and those of rural areas.</li>
<li>Greater accessibility to essential services, especially for those in social need</li>
<li>Widening travel choice by improving public transport infrastructure and promoting walking and cycling</li>
<li>Provide more attractive alternatives to the private car</li>
<li>Protect and enhance the environment</li>
<li>Improved road safety</li>
<li>Making best use of the transport network.</li></ul>

<p>Have your say on the second LTP<br><b><br></b>These provisional documents are the second stage of consultation process that Nottinghamshire County Council is undertaking with interest groups, businesses and the public in order for them to better inform new strategies being developed for inclusion in the second LTP.</p>

<p><a name="ltp2download"></a>Provisional second Local Transport Plans<br><b><br></b>The County Council is involved in producing two Local Transport Plans:</p>
<p>The <b>North Nottingh</b><b>amshire LTP</b> covers the Bassetlaw, Mansfield, Newark and Ashfield areas (except for Hucknall which is included within the Greater Nottingham Plan). &#160;<a href="ltp-provisional.pdf" > Download the provisional second North Nottinghamshire LTP</a> &#160;[PDF 4046KB] <img src="pdf.gif" width="34" height="20" alt="pdf logo" /> </p>

<p>The County Council is also required to look at the effects the LTP will have on the environment. &#160;This includes issues such as noise levels, air pollution, widlife and climate change. &#160;It also includes how transport affects people's health, crime and accessibility. &#160;This process is known as the strategic environmental assessment.</p>

<p>The <b>Greater Nottingham LTP</b> covers the City of Nottingham and the south of the County (the Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe areas as well as Hucknall). The Greater Nottingham plan is produced jointly with Nottingham City Council.</p>
