Skip permits
In order to place a builder’s skip on the highway you are required to obtain a permit for each location from the Highway Authority. The permit itself consists of two parts: 1. Nottinghamshire County Council Standard Conditions 2. Combined Application Form/Permit
Skip permits are granted for two weeks initially, they can be extended for a further two weeks free of charge but after this time a new permit will be required.
Nottinghamshire County Council Standard Conditions [PDF 20KB]
- These set out the requirements and legal obligations that you will have to fulfil in order to place a skip on the highway
- A copy of these must be signed and dated and returned with your initial application form and any other documentation such as insurance certificates, to your area or agent office
- Once a signed copy of this has been received it is kept on file, so for any future applications made only an application form is necessary. This only changes when the standard conditions are amended and a new copy must be signed, dated and returned to your area or agent office.
Combined Application Form/Permit [PDF 17KB]
- You must fill in all the details requested and sign and date the section confirming you have received and signed a copy of the Standard Conditions
- Once satisfied that the application form is correctly completed, the Area Highway Office will check that the proposed location for the skip is acceptable
- Should there be a requirement for additional conditions these should be noted on the application form in the relevant section
- The skip permit will then only be returned to you once it has been signed and dated by the Highway Authority
- You must keep a copy of this permit on file.
