The national concessionary pass allows you to enjoy free off-peak travel on local buses anywhere in England. The national free entitlement operates between 9.30 and 23.00 Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and on public holidays.

From April 6 2010 there will be a change in the age at which people qualify for a concessionary pass. The change is linked to equalising the pension age of men and women to 65, please download the leaflet below to see how this will affect future applicants. People who reach the age of 60 before 6 April or qualify on grounds of disability are not affected by this change.

For Nottinghamshire residents there are changes in the the additional benefits offered by the scheme from 1 April.

  • Half fare travel will no longer be available on buses before 9.30 Monday to Friday and there will be no concessions available on buses after 23.00.
  • Half fare travel on rail journeys in and around Nottinghamshire will no longer be offered although discounted nationwide travel is available to holders of senior citizens rail cards which are available from all train operators.
  • Free travel for companions of certain groups of disabled people is also being withdrawn as is half fare travel with social car schemes.
