Information for asylum seekers
We no longer provide services direct to new asylum applicants. All new asylum applicants must report to the National Asylum Support Service as soon as they arrive in Britain.
We provide services to asylum seekers who have been moved to Nottinghamshire by the National Asylum Support Service. These services include:
- benefits advice
- assistance with housing
- registering with local doctors.
Our social workers continue to provide these services until a decision is made about the asylum seeker's application.
We do however have a duty to provide services directly to unaccompanied, asylum seeking children. These services include emergency foster care.
For more information about asylum issues in Nottinghamshire, please take a look at the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum website.
