HIV and AIDS
The Adult Social Care and Health Department has teams with specialist workers. They offer advice and support for people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and their carers. They have knowledge and skills that can help you to live as indendently as possible. For example:
- assessment of needs and access to care services
- provision of Direct Payments following assessment
- support with emotional needs and planning for the future
- enable and support in negotiating with people like employers, landlords and finance companies
- enable and support with housing, insurance, employment and welfare benefits
- assessment of carers needs and help to continue in a caring role
- funding of voluntary sector support organisations
- joint work with Health colleagues.
