HIV and AIDS
The Adult Social Care and Health Department has teams with specialist workers. They offer advice and support for people diagnosed with HIV and AIDS and their carers. They have knowledge and skills that can help you to live as indendently as possible. For example:
- assessment of needs and access to care services
- provision of Direct Payments following assessment
- support with emotional needs and planning for the future
- enable and support in negotiating with people like employers, landlords and finance companies
- enable and support with housing, insurance, employment and benefits advice
- assessment of carers needs and help to continue in a caring role
- funding of voluntary sector support organisations
- joint work with Health colleagues.
