Dial-a-Ride

What is Dial-A-Ride?

The Dial-A-Ride scheme offers a specialised door-to-door travel service for people who are unable to use public transport.  You can use the service for almost any journey - a shopping trip, a visit to the doctor or dentist, etc.

We have six vehicles that operate seven days a week, in all areas of the County.

Who can get the service?

To qualify for the Dial-A-Ride service you must be a resident of Nottinghamshire.  You must also EITHER:

  • your doctor will need to confirm you are unable to use public transport.

How do I get the service?

You need to fill in an application form.  There are two ways you can get a form:

  • download an application form [PDF 695KB] pdf logo.  
    You can print it off, fill it in and return it to us using our freepost address.
  • telephone one of the numbers shown in the right hand panel, according to where you live and we will send you an application form by post.

How can I book a journey?

Telephone

We give you a registration card with a special freephone number on it.

When you want to book a journey, call that number and one of our staff will speak to you.

If you telephone outside office hours (9.00am - 4.00pm), there is an answer machine that you can leave a message on. Please leave your name and registration number on the answer phone.

Fax

You can also send us a fax to tell us that you want to book a journey. The number is tel: 0115 986 3400. Please mark your fax "FAO: Dial-A-Ride" and be sure to include:

  • your name
  • your registration number
  • the time and date you would like to travel
  • where you'd like us to pick you up from
  • where you'd like us to take you to
  • whether you'd like to make a return journey
  • a contact telephone number.

We recommend that you book well in advance of your journey to avoid disappointment.

How much does it cost?

Booking Charge                                        £2

Mileage charge                                        £1.50 per mile for the first 6 miles

Mileage charge between 7 & 14 inc             £12 Fixed charge

Mileage charge above 14 miles                   £1 per mile
