Primary Boys into Books is a national campaign that was officially launched during National Year of Reading by Schools Minister, Jim Knight, in June 2008. The £5 million scheme is run by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, and enables libraries to select free books from the Riveting Reads book lists drawn-up by the School Library Association, to send to schools in their area.

We are supporting the campaign locally with a range of imaginative events, competitions and displays, being organised by libraries across the county between September and the end of December, which have been designed to appeal particularly to boys aged between 8 and 11.

From bonkers experiments among the bookshelves to alien art and potty poetry, there’s something to inspire any boy to get into books during National Year of Reading.
