National year of reading
Let's get Nottinghamshire reading!
The National Year of Reading is a countrywide campaign which aims to get everyone in the nation to enjoy reading and to raise standards of literacy.
Libraries across Nottinghamshire are busy arranging events and activities to tie in with the monthly themes of the campaign.
If you visit a local library this summer expect to be surprised! There's all sorts of activities for children and adults, from reiki massages and vegetable growing to writing workshops and graphic artists. Everyone is welcome – even if you’ve not read a book or set foot in a library for years!
Popular authors and local personalities have agreed to be Reading Champions and to spread their love of books and literature across the county. Crime writer Stephen Booth and novelist Eve Makis will be getting involved along with lots of other local personalities.
So take a look at the list of events by area, drop in to your local library or visit the National Year of Reading website at www.yearofreading.org.uk
