National year of reading
Let's get Nottinghamshire reading!
The National Year of Reading 2008 was a countrywide campaign which aimed to get everyone in the nation to enjoy reading and to raise standards of literacy.
Libraries across Nottinghamshire arranged numerous events and activities to tie in with the monthly themes of the campaign.
There were all sorts of activities for children and adults, from reiki massages and vegetable growing to writing workshops and graphic artists.
Popular authors and local personalities agreed to be Reading Champions and to spread their love of books and literature across the county. Crime writer Stephen Booth and novelist Eve Makis got involved along with lots of other local personalities.
