The mobile library service provides a library and information service to over 240 communities in Nottinghamshire every month.

Joining and using the mobile library

It’s free to join and there is no age limit.

To join bring a proof of your identity which includes your name and address, such as a driving licence, bill or rental agreement. You'll then be given your library card which you can use straight away on the mobile. Your library card can also be used in any library in Nottinghamshire.

You may have up to 24 items on loan at any one time.

Items are issued for eight weeks If you need to keep an item a little longer it is usually possible to renew it. You can renew your items up to four times.

You may request items from a mobile library as you would with a local library. Any items that you request will be available for you to collect from the mobile library on a later visit to your area.

If you miss a mobile library visit and you need to return borrowed items, you can return them to the mobile library on its next visit. Alternatively, you can also return any items borrowed from a mobile library to any local library. If this is not possible, then there are other ways of renewing your books and other items, including online and over the telephone. Disabled access on our mobile libraries

Mobile libraries have a lift that can accommodate wheelchair users or people who find steps difficult. Please ask for help if you wish to use it.

What happens if the service has to be cancelled

Occasionally we have to take our mobile libraries off the road for repair or routine maintenance. We try to do this at times which cause minimum inconvenience to you. We will announce the dates as early as possible.

If the service is cancelled because of breakdown or weather conditions we will try and telephone a contact in your community to let you know the mobile library will not be calling. In these circumstances your items will not be overdue if you return them on the next scheduled visit.
