Hockey
Hockey is a fast moving game that is now played mostly on artificial pitches.
Nottinghamshire has a variety of these pitches in all parts of the county, including a water based pitch at Highfields Sports Club, Nottingham, that is of international standard.

It's a game suitable for all the family from six to 60, with suitable competition from mini to veteran’s hockey. The main competitive season runs from September to April, with friendly events and leagues taking place over the summer.
What is mini hockey?
Mini hockey is a 7-a-side game played across half sized hockey pitch. The game provides children with enjoyment and success. Girls and boys can play side by side in what is a high scoring, fast moving fun game of hockey. The mini hockey format provides an ideal stepping-stone for young players as they progress towards the full game of hockey.
Where can I play?
There are a number of clubs that cater for boys and girls from age six. For more information on clubs near you, go to: www.intosport.org.uk.
What equipment is needed?
Sticks come in a variety of sizes and weights, so that they are appropriate to a person’s size and strength. Balls can either be full weight or mini, which is a lighter ball.
It's also sensible to play in the correct footwear (astro trainers) and to use safety equipment such as shin pads and gum shield.
