National Water Sports Centre
From April 1st 2009 Nottinghamshire County Council took over operation and management of the National Water Sports Centre.
The centre includes a 2km lake, a 700m white water course, water ski cableway, camping and hotel accommodation, conferencing facilites and all set within 270 acres of country park with 7km of trails for cycling and walking.
The white water course has recently received a £700,000 upgrade funded by Sport England making it a world class facility for elite athletes and a thrilling ride for white water rafters. The upgraded course will be the premier training venue for Team GB in preparation for London 2012 until the Olympic venue Broxbourne opens in 2011 and hosted the European Canoe Slalom Championships in May.
Nottinghamshire County Council and Sport England have committed to invest in activities and attractions over the coming years.
