4 x200m freestyle relay Rebecca was rested for the heats of the relay and, controversially, the team missed out on reaching the finals
Rebecca considers the 800m Freestyle to be her best event, although she feels that breaking the Commonwealth Record in the 400m Freestyle was brilliant at the Olympic Trials. Her finest swim was at the European Championships 2006 in the 800m Freestyle, winning the silver in her debut.
Her aspirations are to win a medal in Beijing, and then to follow that up in London 2012.
Rebecca is coached by Bill Furniss, Nottinghamshire County Council Swimming Coach and Development Officer who also went to Beijing as part of the coaching staff.

Anthony (world ranking 8) with Donna Kellog (Derbyshire), are the current European and, for the second year running, England Mixed Doubles champions. Anthony also reached the last 16 of the Men's Doubles at the Athens Olympics, partnered by Nathan Robertson.
With Robert Blair he took silver in the Men’s Doubles at the 2006 World Championships in Madrid to add to his 2006 Commonwealth Games team silver medal and Doubles bronze medal.

Becky Downie - Artistic Gymnastics Competing in the team competition

Becky's Results
Becky Downie finished 12th in individual all-around final - the best all-around result by a female GB gymnast at an Olympic Games

Becky started gymnastics when she was seven years old at Bigwood Gymnastics Club. She has risen through the ranks of British Gymnastics and rates her greatest achievement so far as coming sixth in the team competition at the 2007 World Championships.
Becky is coached by Claire Starkey – a previous 'Coach of the Year' at the Nottinghamshire County Council Sports Review of the Year awards.
The coach and the club have also received financial support from Nottinghamshire County Council.

World Cup gold medallist David Florence was a late starter in canoeing but is now one of the British canoeing's top slalom paddlers.
Born in Aberdeen, David lived in Edinburgh for a while before moving to Nottingham to train full time.

Fiona learned her slalom canoeing in Scotland with coach Johnny Brown before moving to Nottingham to both go to University and access better facilities.
Her current coach is Shaun Pearce, an ex-World Champion in Men’s Kayak in Tacen, Yugoslavia 1991.
Canoeing runs in Pennie’s family, her mother was an international flatwater padller.

Nathan Robertson is one of the world's greatest badminton players and his sights are now firmly set on Beijing 2008 when he and Gail Emms aim to win the gold that they were so close to winning in 2004.
Nathan launched himself into the spotlight when he made his England debut against China at the age of 18.
At the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur he won three medals and his other major international achievements include World Championship Bronze (men’s), 4 Grand Prix titles (5 mixed, 1 men’s), 6 Commonwealth medals and European Gold and Silver medals (mixed & men’s doubles).
He and his partner Gail Emms won the silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games in a thrilling final where they were just edged out by defending champions Zhang Jun and Gao Ling of China.The marathon 93 minute match finished 15-1, 12-15, 15-12 after Nathan and Gail lead 11-8 in the deciding game.Their Silver medal is Great Britain’s highest ever result in badminton.

Tim Stockdale - Showjumping Competing in the individual and team competition
Tim's results

Now aged 43, Tim first represented Great Britain in 1988 and has since represented his country on 39 occasions on Nations Cup teams and also on the World Equestrian Games team in 2002.
Tim has has never competed at an Olympic Games, this year he has a great opportunity with his top horse, Fresh Direct Corlato, and is focusing his attention on Hong Kong.
Currently 5th in the British Show Jumping Association (BSJA) rankings, Tim is also a member of the World Class Performance programme and has been since 2003.
2007 was a very good year for Tim, Fresh Direct Corlato, a horse he has described as the best all-rounder he has ever had, won 4 major Grands prix and already in 2008 he has secured a place in the World Cup final and won Nates Grand Prix for the second successive year.

Lucy is the current women's K1 200m European Champion and is looking forward to her second Olympic Games.
She has recorded some solid results in the past two years, including a World Cup Bronze medal this year and a Silver World Cup medal in 2007.
Lucy is truly focused on improving the 7th place achieved in the women's K1 500m in Athens.

Olympic Silver medallist in Kayak Single in Athens, Walsh's target is a gold medal in Beijing and also at London 2012.
He has already displayed fine form in 2008, taking gold at the European Championships in May. This follow's consecutive bronze medals at World Championship level in 2006 and 2007.
In fact he slipped to third but took the silver after another Frenchman Fabien Lefevre was penalised.

Michael Whittaker - Show jumping Competing in the individual and team competition
Unable to compete due to lame horse
Michael became the youngest ever winner of the famous Hickstead Derby at the age of 20 and at the age of 24, won an Olympic team silver medal in Los Angeles.
In 1993 Michael took over from his brother John as the world’s Number One. In 1999 Michael was the highest placed British rider in the World Cup Final finishing 5th overall with Virtual Village Ashley and he beat this record by finishing third with Handel II in 2001.
In his career, Michael has won 11 team medals at championship level, three of them gold. He also holds three individual silver medals won at European Championships. In 2007, he was part of the bronze medal winning team at the European Championships, Mannheim and also gained the team crucial qualification to the 2008 Olympic Games.

Alistair made his debut for England in January 2005 on the tour of South Africa, making a further 45 appearances for England and over 20 for Great Britain, five of which came as he helped GB secure qualification for the Olympics in Chile.
Wilson has appeared at two European Championships and was called up to the squad at the 2006 World Cup as replacement for the injured Ben Marsden.
He plays his club hockey for Beeston, having attended Nottingham Trent University.
