Country park staff
Many teams work together to make you feel welcome at Nottinghamshire Country Parks. Here are just some of them:
Rangers - looking after visitors, running on-site events for education and leisure, and carrying out conservation and maintenance work on site.
Land Management – caring for the grounds, paths and gardens.
Forestry & Environment – specialist woodland management & environmental planning.
Catering – Providing meals and refreshments for visitors at Rufford & Sherwood Forest Country parks, making income that helps offset park costs.
Shops – Souvenirs, gifts and crafts for visitors to buy, generating income to help offset park running costs.
Arts Service – Ranging from exhibitions and courses at Rufford’s Craft Centre to ‘one off’ events such as outdoor theatre events. Adding colour, culture and variety to the visitor experience.
Double delight for Rufford staff
Staff at Rufford Abbey Country Park were delighted when the park won two national quality awards.
 | In June 2007 the park gained its first Green Flag award from the Civic Trust, a nationally recognised award for well-run public parks. | | Then, as the green leaves in the park started to turn gold, the park received a second accolade by winning a VAQAS (Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme) award as a quality assured visitor attraction. The award was made by VisitBritain, the national organisation responsible for promoting British tourism. Passing their inspection gives Rufford the right to display the internationally-recognised Quality Rose Marque and assures visitors that they are visiting an attraction that meets Visit Britain’s high standards. |
