What's new?
The Winding Engine House, an imposing piece of industrial archaeology, is a memorial to the coal mining industry once so important to our county's economy.
The building is currently being restored by Nottinghamshire County Council, with funding support from The Heritage Lottery Fund, The Greater Nottingham Partnership and the Building Better Communities initiative. Work should finish in autumn 2009, with the building opening to the public in Spring 2010.

A park for the community
School, faith and community groups are welcome at Bestwood, and the park’s mission is to make the countryside accessible to all. Our ranger team work regularly with all kinds of groups, ranging from autistic adults and people with mental health problems to disadvantaged teenagers at risk of exclusion from school.
Ring the park rangers to find out more about our programme of health walks, team building activities, school age environmental education and more.
We also welcome volunteers, who can take part in a variety of conservation tasks alongside our park rangers. Give us a call if you'd like to find out more tel: 0115 9273674.
