Introduction

This new exhibition highlights a range of different records and images held at Nottinghamshire Archives. They record the presence of people of African Caribbean origin within Nottinghamshire and the city of Nottingham, and the contribution they have made to the area's community and culture.

The exhibition is part of a project produced last year to mark the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act of 1807.

It is divided into six key areas. Follow the links below to choose the area you wish to explore.
