Circular pedigree of the descendants of Thomas Hine, c 1895

Reference: DD/TS/6/4/8

Most family historians produce family trees or pedigrees that resemble a tree, with the current generation at the bottom and previous generations appearing as branches above them. This pedigree is different.

The oldest generation, Thomas and Elizabeth Hine, appear in the centre. Their descendants radiate out in a series of wheels showing Thomas and Elizabeth Hine's considerable progeny. On the decorative column in the centre of the wheel is inscribed 'A Radiant Clue as to Who's Who of the Descendants of Thomas Hine and Elizabeth Daniel'.

Thomas Hine was born in 1741 and lived with his wife Elizabeth in Beaminster in Dorset. The pedigree, compiled by Thomas himself, was printed for private circulation by A Goater of Nottingham.
