Deposited Documents
Nottinghamshire Archives collects documents and records relating to individuals, organisations, families, businesses, clubs, societies and other institutions.
These individuals and organisations have chosen to deposit their records with the Archives to ensure their long-term preservation and public access.
The Archives always welcomes new deposits.
There are three groups of deposited documents, each of which has a different reference:
- The 'M' series relates to those documents originally deposited with the Nottingham City Record Office. This office merged with Nottinghamshire Archives in 1974.
- The 'DD' Numerical series has reference numbers consisting of the letters 'DD' and then a number, and relates to smaller deposited collections.
- The 'DD' Alphabetical series has reference numbers consisting of the letters 'DD' and then a group of letters, and relates to larger deposited collections.
